Buynaksk Air Base is a Russian Air Force base in the North Caucasus Military District, Southern Russia.
History[]
A small separatist force had seized this airbase close to the combat zone and commandeered a large number of Tu-95 and Tu-160 bombers, IL-76 transports, A-50 AWACS and IL-78 refueling planes in a desperate attempt to rescue their leaders after the loyal military forces under General Vasily Morgunov's command surrounded them in the border.
Realizing the situation, the General deployed Captain Dmitri Sokov, Colonel Denisov and the Russian Air Force fighter squadron to intercept a large group of enemy planes and were forced to destroy all of them due to the ambush caused by the enemy aerial fighters.
